There are multiple ways of viewing a file. You can view all the pages on an overview mode. You can also view it page by page, in order to enable the page by page mode you need to press less, more. This will open the sequential pages of the file.

Every time you press the key, the pages will display one after the other in an orderly manner. This helps to minimize confusion. It is also more convenient to have all the pages displayed in an orderly manner rather than manipulate through the entire file every time, looking for the next page in the desired sequence.
