Quartzite is a type of rock that people use to make countertops. It has a light grayish white appearance to it. It is hard and is considered to be non-foliated. Sandstone is another type of rock that can be converted into quartz. Quartz is a metamorphic rock. It is a very durable rock that can withstand weathering, even the chemical kind. Quartzite is also used to make roofing tiles, stair steps, and flooring.

It is also used to cover the walls. Quartz can be found in different places — one of the main areas that are located in Norway. Nevada and Utah are two states that are known to have quartzite in their mountains. Specifically, they are found near Tony Grove Lake and White Pine County.
