A trade war between China and the United States could have some significant effect for the two economies. As far as destroying their economies go, it is highly doubtful that will happen. These are two of the biggest economies in the world so it would take more than a trade war to destroy them. It would have more effect on the United States economy than it would on China. The Chinese are responsible for a vast majority of American exports especially when it comes to technology. A huge tarriff on Chinese imports in the U.S. could force China to boycott American goods. The U.S. technology companies rely heavily on Chinese subcontractors to make products so a trade war would mean an increase in price for these technologies which would mean a huge increase in the price of electronics in the United States. A United States and China trade war could bring on some trouble but it would not totally destroy their economies.
