The red panda does not really look like a panda. Instead, it looks like a cross between a raccoon and a fox. This animal is on the endangered list since they have been losing their habitats as well as being hunted for their fur. Most of these red pandas are found in China like most pandas are. They are found in the Himalayas in China, specifically.
The only other places where a red panda would be found would be in zoos around the world. There are also some people who have kept red pandas as pets. One important person who had a red panda as a pet was Indira Gandhi. However, most people see this animal as a wild animal.
Geographically speaking, red pandas live in places like China, Nepal, Tibet, Sikkim, Burma and Bhutan. It is also suspected that they live in an area of India called the Arunachal Pradesh, but reports cannot confirm. More specifically, this mammal has the highest population numbers in areas of the Himalayan Mountains.
They enjoy areas with moderate temperatures, with few seasonal changes and temperatures staying around 50-77 degrees. Aside from geographic locations, these cute cousins to the black panda live mainly in trees. They prefer forests that contain a mix of conifer and deciduous trees and have plenty of old trees and bamboo for them to eat.
