As the Earth is growing hotter and more people are recognizing the impact that our everyday activities are having on the planet, many are looking to energy alternatives. Using these alternatives can help combat the climate change that is occurring and ensure that the future generations have a home to live in.

One of those alternatives is solar energy. This involves the use of solar panels that will produce energy through the Sun. When the Sun is out and on the panels, it charges them to allow electricity to flow.

Another type of energy is wind energy, which uses natural wind to create electricity.

I think the most utilized means of generating electricity is through the hydro medium. That is the generating of electricity from water. However, it has been proven with experiments that electricity can still be generated through some other medium.

Some of these underutilized means are through:

1. Wind: Electricity can be generated from wind with the help of a turbine. Turbines convert kinetic energy that is captured from the wind into electricity. The amount of electricity generated is directly proportional to the speed of the wind.

2. Coal: This is actually a quite popular means of generating electricity. A large population from several countries, especially in Asia and Africa, make use of this medium to generate electricity.

3. Solar: Solar thermal generates electricity making use of the heat provided from the sun. Solar photovoltaic makes use of semiconductors to convert sunlight to electricity, a direct current.

There are different sources of energy that are available right now but people are still not utilizing these sources enough. For example, it is already a known fact that solar panels will have the ability to generate enough electricity for certain homes.

This can be great especially if people do not have to rely on non−renewable sources of electricity anymore. Another source of energy is wind energy. There are already some places that have set up wind turbines in various places wherein the wind can be strong.

The wind will have the ability to generate enough electricity to sustain various places too. These are sources of energy that should be used more.

Do you realize that there are now new ways that generating electricity can be done? Do you know that body heat can be used in order to generate electricity? If you have already tried being inside a train that is full of people, then you already know that this can be very uncomfortable. This body heat can be used in order to power homes and other buildings.

Used adult diapers are also starting to be used now in order to create electricity. The used diapers can be processed and be made into electricity that can power different health institutions. Solar power is considered to be common but do you know that solar power has can also be used in space?

One of the more unconventional (and still underutilized) ways of generating electricity is by capturing human body heat. Ventilation systems in shopping malls and underground subways have been converted to turn excess body heat into hot water. The hot water is then used as a heating source. Two other natural sources are glow-in-the-dark jelly fish and algae. Scientists have found a way to use a green fluorescent protein found in some jelly fish to create miniature fuel cells.

Scientists have also “worked out a way to turn living algae into what is effectively a floating biological solar cell that could be used to generate power from almost any non-freezing body of fresh or salt water.”
