Along with that, the flow is wanted to be stopped to prevent electric shocks. There are examples of insulators around us every day. Examples include wood, plastic, and ceramics; A common household example is a kitchen utensil like a spoon.
It is an insulator because it prevents any heat from the pan to spread to the hands. Wires on electrical devices are also insulators because they prevent heat from the pan passing into the wires.
