It is difficult to pinpoint the most expensive dish in the world, due to the number of indulgent options. However, one of the costliest desserts can be found in Sri Lanka at a restaurant called The Fortress Resort and Spa. It is called The Fortress Stilt Fisherman Indulgence because of the carved chocolate sculpture of a fisherman sitting on his stilt.

It is made with a fruit-infused Irish cream-flavored cassata accompanied by a pomegranate and mango compote and Dom Perignon sabayon. To top things off, this dessert is served with an 80 carat Aquamarine gem. To give you an idea, an 80-carat stone is about the size of a soup spoon.

I’m pretty much sure you won’t be able to afford it. It’s the Chocolate Pudding at Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel. It costs $35,000! Yeah, you read that right. I could pay off my student loan debt with that amount but, no, I’m going to eat some pudding. Jokes aside, it is made with the highest quality chocolate from Belgium molded into the shape of Faberge Egg and some champagne jelly on top. The next topping is edible gold leaves and a 2 carat diamond. It is served with a bottle of champagne and caviar.

I can’t answer your ‘why’ because I don’t know. I guess the chef just woke up one day and said to himself , “I’m going to make a pudding that no one will ever eat.” The one thing which I don’t understand is the gold leaves and diamonds. What is wrong with chefs nowadays? I understand the concept of royalty food but $35,000 is a bit much even by royal standards. I think that even the emirs of Dubai will check their finances after chomping down this dumb dish. I need a Snickers right about now. Ciao!
