Why is the Pepsi Ad with Kylie Jenner so controversial?

The main problem of the Pepsi ad is not only because it has been created by an all-white American team but also because they have used the wrong person in order to symbolize what they wanted to show. They have also used a song that was already released before instead of thinking of a new song that they can use to represent the commercial.

There was a type of protest that was going on and Jenner supposedly was able to stop it in the commercial. In real life, Jenner did not do anything for that movement anyway. Some say that the whole concept seems to disrespect all of the accomplishments that Black Americans were able to do.

On the surface it does not seem so obvious what is wrong with Kylie Jenner in the controversial Pepsi advertisement, but there is a serious and glaring issue. In the ad, Jenner finishes up at an event and see a crowd of protestors asking police for peach and love. Kylie Jenner walks through the crowd of people and hands a police officer a can of Pepsi as a kind of peace offering.

The issue here is that Kylie is a priviledged white girl who is playing a role of a mediator between the police and the black lives matter protestors. Later, Kylie Jenner apologized for her role in any upset regarding the Pepsi ad.
