Different places are named according to some incident or an important event. The Cape of Good Hope is a place located in the cost side of Southern Africa. It is an extremely relaxing place with beautiful landscapes. This place was also the point of trade.

Once the route to the east and India was opened, it was speculated that it would bring much benefit to the economy. This is why King John2 from Portugal called the place the Cape of Good Hope. Earlier it was called cape of storms, back in the year 1488. This is the perfect example of how certain events can change the name of a place.

The Cape of Good Hope is a name given to a headland that exists on the Atlantic coast side of Southern Africa. This point of interest is popular for it scenic beauty. Originally, the Portuguese explorer named Bartholomew Dias named this point the cape of storms in the year 1488. Later, King John 2 from Portugal named it the Cape of Good Hope.

It was named so because there was great optimism for trade associated with this point of interest after the sea route to the East and India was opened. This is how this place got its name.
