The correct answer to this question is Proteins, phospholipids, and sterols are all components of the plasma membrane, but nucleic acid is not a component of the plasma membrane. Instead, nucleic acid is a type of complex organic substance that is found in living cells and essential to all known forms of life.

The two main types of nucleic acids are deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA), and the molecules are composed of many nucleotides that are linked together in a long chain. Nucleotides are monomers made of three components: a 5-carbon sugar, a phosphate group and a nitrogenous base.
