The Project Management Institute provides certification via an examination to become a Project Manager Professional. This is a highly regarded international qualification. A project manager has to provide estimations for proposed work.
Three-point estimating is a technique which takes account of optimistic and pessimistic estimates before an ideal estimate value is given for a project task. The most likely estimate forms the third point. This procedure allows known risks to be quantified and built in to the project budget.
