Are your familiar with who Claudio Monteverdi is? He is known to be an Italian composer, choirmaster, and string player. He has created a lot of secular music but he also made some sacred music during his time.

A lot of people know of him as someone who has a lot of influence in the creation of the opera. He was born at the time when Renaissance music was extremely popular but he was a key in making the music transform to Baroque music. You can tell from his madrigals the transition of the musical era at that time. L'incoronazione di Poppea was his last opera and people say that it was contemporary during that period.
