The correct answer to this question is E, All of the above. Answer A, Weaken charity in the soul, but does not destroy it, B, Can dispose of us little by little to commit a mortal sin, and C, Are forgiven during the Penitential Rite at Mass are all true about venial sins.

These sins are slight, and they do not entail the soul to damnation. Though the soul won't enter damnation, the soul will be weakened with sickness. It could also lead to a mortal sin, which is worse. An example of a venial sin would be telling a white lie. One may see a white lie here and there as not being bad, but that white lie could turn into a bigger lie down the line.

Venial sin wounds our relationship with God but does not sever it. In the Penitential Rite, when the priest says May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins and lead us to everlasting life we receive absolution from our venial sins but NOT our mortal sins. However, we should still confess the venial sins in reconciliation.
