Sometimes new movies will want to hire and cast actors and actresses who are not as famous. They do not want people to associate these actors and actresses with previous characters that they have played. In this case Harry potter was a new movie. When Daniel Radcliffe came onto the scene and start in this movie, there were not any other characters that people can associate him with.
