Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is divided into four quarters with the Jewish, Muslim and Christian holy sites existing practically on top of one another. Of the four quarters, the Muslim Quarter is the largest. The al-Aqsa Mosque is located in Jerusalem as is the Dome of Rock. This location is the third holiest site in Islam. Muslims believe the Prophet Muhammad travelled there from Mecca, prayed with the souls of all the prophets, and ascended to heaven from the Dom.

Jerusalem is important is important to Christians because they believe Jesus was buried inside the Christian Quarter in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. For Jews, the Western Wall is the nearest to the place they call the Holy of Holies, which many Jews believe is the Dome of the Rock, which is inside the Muslim quarter. Jews believe the world was created from this site and it is also where Abraham prepared to sacrifice his son, Isaac.
