Bill Belichick’s Patriot teams should not be stripped of their titles for cheating because I believe they probably would have won even without the cheating. Yes, Belichick has a bad reputation and deservedly so. I found it quite humorous that Hall of Fame coach Don Shula once called him “Beli-cheat”. And Bellichick has cheated.
Who knows for sure when it started but I do remember in 2007 Bellichick was personally fined $500,000 and the Patriot’s team was fined $250,000 and they lost their 2008 first-round draft choice for stealing (via videotape) the New York Jets signals. And of course there have been other instances since then. But hopefully the fines will be larger enough in the future so that Belichick will think twice before cheating again.
