Be2+ is the chemical name for the Beryllium ion.
Beryllium has 4 protons and 2 electrons. Beryllium, in its natural form, has an electronic configuration of 1s2 2s2. Beryllium has an atomic number of 4 and is located in group 2 of the periodic table, which is also known as the alkaline earth metal group. It is located in period 2; it is very strong and was found and documented in a book published by Pliny the Elder in the first century.

Beryllium comes in a dark gray color. The mass number of Beryllium is the number of protons + number of neutrons. Proton for beryllium is 4 while that of the neutron is 5, which makes the mass 9. The molecular weight is 9.012183 g/mol.

Beryllium has an electronic configuration of 1s2 2s2 in its natural state. When in an ion state of Be2+ it loses the electrons in a 2s shell and has a configuration of 1s2.

This means that Be2+ has 2 electrons. The amount of protons and neutrons remains the same at 4.

Therefore, Beryllium will have four protons, four neutrons, and two electrons.
