The correct answer to this question is C, Decrease in temperature. Not to be mistaken with absorption, adsorption is the adhesion of molecules, ions, and atoms. These items are taken from a solid which is dissolved, gas, or liquid, to a surface.

This process is also known as a surface phenonmenon and it is the result of surface energy. Adsorption can be found in many applications and systems such as activated charcoal, heterogeneous catalysts, the use of waste heat to provide water that is cold for air conditioning, and synthetic resins. The word comes from Heinrich Kayser, who was a German physicist. He coined this word in 1881.

Adsorption is the bonding of atoms, ions, or molecules from a gas, liquid, or dissolved solid to a surface. Adsorption is existing in many natural, physical, biological, and chemical systems and is widely used in industrial applications.

Physical adsorption is reversible in nature. If the pressure is increased the volume of gas decreases; therefore, as a result, more gas is absorbed. Increase in pressure will facilitate an increase in the rate of adsorption. Adsorption means adhesion of atoms or molecules. The rate of physical adsorption increases with and increase in temperature and growth of pressure.
