The media should surely not have access to everything about the government. This is due to the fact that a lot of information that the government possesses is usually very confidential and the information is classified. Media outlets cannot really be trusted, and many of them might end up leaking them either on purpose or through irresponsible reporting.
Hence, it is rather better to let the government and the media operate as two separate free entities rather one having access to the other’s information. This is the only way to allow neutral reporting based on what’s obvious and what is apparent.
