While the Clinton state department did have three individuals listed into the US list of terrorists that belonged to the Boko Haram terrorist organization. These individuals included Abubakar Shekau, who was the leader who issued a video claiming the mass kidnapping of 276 Nigerian girls.

Currently, the United State does list Boko Haram as a terrorist organization however that happened under John Jerry state department. There are many different views that people have. Some say that it was done for political reasons, while others claim that only those terrorist organizations make it to the list that threaten the US national security interests, citizens, or economy.
