Police brutality has always been an issue in the United States, especially in the context of race relations between law enforcement and communities of color. The United States has a bad history of race relations because of the long history of slavery and battle for civil rights. There are many examples throughout history, including the Rodney King incident and the killing of Michael Brown.

Recently we have become more aware of police brutality as police officers have started to wear body cameras and as citizens are able to record interactions with their phones. After seeing videos of police brutality, many people who were skeptical about police brutality have become concerned.
