Racism is the act or belief of promoting the dominance of one race over others. There are levels of racism. Institutional and interpersonal racism is part of them. Institutional racism is a level of racism that occurs when institutions or bodies join forces together to discriminate against other races. Institutional racism is also known as structural or state racism.

This is the level of racism seen in Government, corporate organizations, education systems, and religion. Interpersonal racism, on the other hand, is a level of racism that occurs between individuals. This is when an individual actively or passively expresses their racist beliefs and attitude against other races. It is a level of racism is also known as overt racism.

Institutional racism means that the institutions where people are supposed to thrive experience different practices depending on the racial group. For example, the institution may favor a certain race over the other even if the other race is performing better. For interpersonal racism, this means that the racism of the person is within the person.

A person may not want to become friends with another person simply because of his/her skin color. No matter what type of racism it is, this should not be done and practiced. There are a lot of people who are judged unfairly simply because of their race when, in fact, people are all equal.

Institutional racism is when institutes and firms join together to discriminate against a particular race or ethnicities, they also refer to certain groups of people who practice active racism and actually support racist thinking. Interpersonal racism, n the other hand focuses on individual racism.

It is the racist behavior of one individual against another the person can hold a negative attitude again the other person or verbally or physically abuse the person. Nowadays there is also cyber racism. It involves both interpersonal racism as well as institutional racism. Racism is a huge problem in today’s world and needs to be dealt with immediately.
