Sneezing is an involuntary action that we humans do when dust gets up our noses. Sometimes, when you nose itches, you will sneeze. However, people may wonder whether animals can sneeze. Dogs can sneeze and most other land animals can sneeze because they breathe in the same way that we do. They have lungs and breathe similarly, so they can sneeze.

However, whales and other animals that live in the water do not sneeze because they live in the water. If they breathe in water quickly through their nose like humans do, they would get water in their system. Whales have to think about breathing every time they breathe, but humans breathe involuntarily. Therefore, whales are not able to sneeze because of their breathing.
