It would be nice to see our country be even more progressive and have not only a woman win the presidential election, but a strong black woman. We have already seen Oprah's dedication to a cause. When Obama ran for president, she publicly endorsed him, which was the first time she put her influential stamp of approval on a candidate, and it came from such a pure place.
Oprah would be the perfect female candidate to follow in the footsteps of Obama. She didn't even think about it in terms of business or viewership. She just dove in head over feet, and she openly stood by her political beliefs. This type of dedication would be a refreshing departure from the climate of skepticism and approval seeking, which is so prevalent right now in politics. When Oprah made her speech at the Golden Globe Awards, she was flooded by social media support, and she received a well- deserved standing ovation.
Oprah Winfrey is a former talk show host, millionaire, author and spokeswoman for Weight Watchers. She has interviewed many people when she began her career as a host. She is very famous and therefore is known by many people. She is trusted by many people and has mentioned that she might run. It is not known whether she said that truthfully or in jest.
However, many people became excited about this announcement. At this point, Oprah’s views on different political aspects are now completely known unless she did enter the ring for the presidential candidacy. In order to fully understand her viewpoints, she would need to begin campaigning for the average citizen to know what she would do as president.
