Many local police departments are limited in their technology to identify cyber bullies and prosecute them. Instead of using technology, they may get on the victim’s computer to see what was written to them. If the bullies vocalize their threats to the victim, then it will be more difficult for the local police to prosecute the bullies. Also, the local police department will most likely not prosecute bullies who are just saying mean things to the victim.

The victim has to provide proof that this ordeal has been taking place for multiple weeks and the victim has evidence of multiple times that the bully has reached out to the victim and made ugly comments to him or her. The police may further help the victim if the police feel that the victim is unsafe.
