What percentage of the offsprings of the spider (in the case below) are expected to be patterned instead of plain?

Hawaiian happy face spiders from the island of Maui can have different markings, as shown below. A single gene determines the markings on the spiders. A plain spider is crossed with a patterned spider. The patterned spider is homozygous. The pattern allele is dominant to the plain allele.

There is a single gene that will be in charge of making the different patterns of the spider become obvious. When a plain spider mates with a patterned spider, there is a lesser chance that the pattern will be the same as the patterned spider as there are traits that should also come from the other spider.

The patterned spider will be homozygous, which means that it will have two identical alleles of the same gene. The offspring will probably have more patterns, though, because this is the dominant trait though it may not be exactly similar to the pattern of the patterned spider. Take note that there are different factors that may affect this.

It is often referred to in the context of disease. You can draw a Punnett square to help you understand. A homozygous trait refers to two capital letters XX for a dominant feature and two lowercase letters for a recessive trait.
